Prayers of Faith

At age 24, missionary to Brazil Faith Annette Sand, suddenly confronted with eight orphaned children, aged 2 to 9, decided to adopt them even though her $50/month stipend would not increase. With no other option than to take seriously the Lord’s promises to supply all our needs according to God’s riches in glory, she began a life of prayer that proved on a daily basis that God was worthy of our trust. Here she shares hard-learned insights into how to pray and trust the God Who has promised always to be faithful and provide for us beyond what we could possibly ask or think. “God doesn’t answer our prayers because we are worthy or deserving. God answers our prayers because we say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and because God loves us more than we can ever imagine.”

“At last, a contemporary book on prayer that pulses with power and life,” says Margie Smith of Hawaiian Island Ministries of this book. “Reading your book has revived our hope,” adds Peter Williams, missionary field director in South America. This anecdotal book is a “treasure … for any who wish to develop the art of prayerfulness,” notes retreat director, Sister Carmel Noone, who says it is “crystal clear in its invitation to grow in compassion, forgiveness and justice,” adding, “Watch out! This book could change the direction of your life.”

After serving for 15 years as a missionary in Brazil Faith Annette Sand returned to California where she went to seminary and ever since has been involved in religious journalism, communication and publishing. She lives in Pasadena with her husband but has children and grandchildren living on four continents.
